Become a Councillor
Local councils can only be as helpful, connected and energetic as the people elected to run them, so we need councillors capable, enthusiastic and engaged to reflect their communities. You can find out more about becoming a councillor on The Electoral Commission and Local Government Association website.
If you are interested in becoming a Councillor in Ludgershall then please contact the Town Clerk on tel:01264 391629 or email townclerk@ludgershall-tc.gov.uk.
Over the years Ludgershall Town Council has brought to Ludgershall many amenities such as, FREE public toilets and car park, the Recreation ground with gym equipment and now 3 play parks, one of which has recently become a more inclusive site. We also provide and upkeep 2 allotments, a Town Cemetery and multiple gardens including working with other local groups and businesses within the town to update the Rose Garden to the Centenary Garden, with the beautiful poppy flooring to enhance our Remembrance parades at our War Memorial across the road. LTC listened to the youth of Ludgershall when building the skatepark and again when we expanded this facility in 2023, so if you feel passionate about this subject then why not come and join us or at least send in some ideas.
LTC also prides itself, in more recent years, to providing many well organised and run events for example, Free Easter disco for the Children of Ludgershall, Litter Picks (which have been so well attended thank you Ludgershall), Christmas Fayre & light Switch on and not forgetting Santa and his helpers visiting the streets of Ludgershall and Perham Down. Other Civic events such as Remembrance Sunday and 26 Engineers Freedom marches have been a great hit with the residents of Ludgershall, along with recent Beacon lightings and in 2025 we will be lighting the beacon for VE day 80. After recent years having larger street parties for Queens Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee & King Charles III’s Coronation, LTC decided to continue with celebrating and have a Party in the Park (Rec) with all the fun of the summer Fete and this will continue in to 2025. Ludgershall in Bloom is returning in 2025 (which creates pride and a beautiful walk around the town).
LTC have also supported many local groups with Grants such as; St James Church to help with the church yard, Memorial Hall to help with works needed and help through the church for Ukrainian families and art projects. Further grants have been given to the the Ludgershall branch of the Wiltshire carers, Kickstart FC and LTC has also supported Castledown FM for many years.
Projects going forward, Youth Engagement, Business Collaboration, Town plan formulation & a building on the Rec that houses public toilets, storage and looking forward an area for a Ground person.
So if you are interested and want to have a say, why not become a councillor.
